Our Story

The Funk families were pioneers in agribusiness, especially the hybrid seed corn industry in America. The Funks have had a significant and continual presence in US agriculture for more than 150 years.


The Funk seed business was thrust into its international expansion when Bill Funk, was awarded contracts to distribute seed under the Marshall Plan - the US Federal Aid Programme for European Economic Recovery after WWII.


Bill’s close friend and associate was Charles Halleck, The Congressional House Majority Leader and Marshall Plan architect.


The Funk family businesses have been active across agribusiness in areas of: Corporate  Farming, Hybrid Seed Corn, Chemicals, Livestock, Commodities and Trading.

1723 Partners was named in honor of Adam Smith, "The father of economics", born on 5 June 1723.
